Our Christmas tree is loaded with memories. The ornaments tell the stories of vacations and special events. Special people. Countries I've visited. Things the kids made long ago. Spend a few minutes looking and it might be Kleenex time.
That would be true for a different reason if there were ornaments commemorating not so happy times. Our mistakes, people we've hurt, bad choices we've made, broken relationships, broken hearts. I'm thankful there's no tree of regrets, right? But those dark things, those sins, they still haunt our conscience, our soul.
But here's the awesome news of Christmas, all our sin and guilt was nailed to another tree when Jesus loved you enough to die to pay for your sin. The Bible says God canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
