We have a special tradition in our family, Christmas clues. My dad will put clues on gifts and if you're a master of puns in several different languages you just might figure out what's in the gift.
When I read the Christmas story found in the Bible, I see it full of Christmas clues. Not clues about Christmas presents and lights. These, point to who this baby really was - Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us. And they point to what He came to do. He came on a rescue mission for me, for you. Jesus came, died on the cross, and rose again so that we can be forgiven and have eternal life.
One of the most famous Bible verses says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son so that whoever believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life" (John 3:16). That's the best Christmas gift ever! Dad's clues are tough to figure out but God's are not. He wants to have a relationship with you that will bring you hope and peace.
