For over a decade, I had the privilege of living with some amazing Native Americans on a reservation. Every year, the little village I lived in would hold their annual Christmas parade. While it may not have been Macy's, it was always a blast.

My poor friend. He played the angel in a citywide Christmas pageant, announcing Jesus' birth to the shepherds below. But he fell from his platform, right onto the shepherds. Shouting "fear not!" all the way!

In our house, my youngest son is one of the first to ask how close we are to Christmas. He can't wait for Christmas to come! But, he's also quick to point out something that takes place just a few days earlier - his birthday. He wants to make sure that his birthday isn't missed in the countdown to Christmas.

I was four, and it was my first picture on Santa's lap. I'm stone-faced, leaning as far as away as I can get. It was crazy - I was scared to get close to the one who just wanted to give me something.
