It is almost time for Native young people from all across the United States and Canada to gather together for the 2008 Warrior Leadership Summit (WLS). Coming from reservations and reserves where some traditions lead to a darkness surrounding Native America, these young people will be coming to revel in the Light that comes from the Son.
Native North American young people experience one of the highest suicide rates among teenagers in the United States. Hopelessness is a common feeling through the reservations and reserves in North America. Warrior Leadership Summit is designed to bring Native American young people who believe in Jesus to a neutral environment to learn more about serving Jesus in their culture. And, WLS provides encouragement through hundreds of young Native believers, plus tools for them to take home and use to share Jesus with their friends.
We pray that several hundred Native young people will attend this summer’s Warrior Leadership Summit. Our team is working diligently to prepare for this event. Many hours will be spent on the telephone arranging transportation for groups of Native young people; working out details for such a large group; and securing the necessary materials needed to register for the event, arranging meals, security, recreation and housing to create a safe and comfortable environment. Like any major conference, planning this unique event requires months of preparation.
Warrior Leadership Summit is almost here. Your help is needed to complete this event. You might be asking, “How can I be of help?” Here are a few ways you can help make this year’s Warrior Leadership Summit have the greatest spiritual impact on Native America.
1. Pray for the Native young people and for the Hutchcraft Ministries team. And please pray for:
a. The Holy Spirit to move the young people to come.
b. Transportation needs to get them to Warrior Leadership Summit.
c. Safe travel for the Native attendees.
d. All the preparations to be completed on time.
e. Moving of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the Native attendees.
2. Pray God will provide the financial needs to fulfill the obligations for Warrior Leadership Summit. Native young people could not attend Warrior Leadership Summit if they had to finance their own way. We ask them to provide $50 with their reservations. It costs much more to provide a week of intense Bible training for such a large group. Your partnership is needed to cover the remaining costs.

Cost for one scholarship for a week: $455
Cost for one scholarship for a day: $75
- Matching grant opportunity. We have been provided with a matching grant that will make your gift go even further. Watch for details on how you can make your gift go further through this matching grant opportunity.
- Involve your Sunday School, Vacation Bible School group, or small study group in Warrior Leadership Summit. Fund a scholarship for one or more Native young people.
- For the past couple of years, one elementary student (7 years old) collects sponsorships for the number of laps he rides his bicycle and sends the proceeds to support the Native Outreach. He was able to raise over $2,000 from this individual project. Maybe you are a youth Sunday School teacher and could challenge your class to participate in an event to raise funds for Warrior Leadership Summit. Your young people would have a part in the lives of hundreds of Native young people across North America.
