Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - June 2009 Prayer Update

Dear Friend,

Two very different worlds - a desert Indian reservation and the concrete canyons of Wall Street. But desperation feels the same in both places - "without God and without hope in this world." (Ephesians 2:12 )

On the reservation, there was another young suicide recently. The lone missionary there is now on the "hit list" of tribal leaders - because he's reached a few among this Gospel-resistant people group. Converts are being seriously persecuted and spiritual curses are being aimed at the missionary. And the Gospel is being blamed for drought, violence, and the most recent suicide.

With your prayer and support, our On Eagles' Wings team will be accepting the missionary's invitation to present Christ on that reservation this summer. We're fully aware that, in our inviter's words, this will "rank right up there with the worst reservations" we've been to in terms of "difficult spiritual warfare." That's just one of the challenging reservations we'll go to this summer, praying for a breakthrough miracle. And more grateful for your prayer than ever.

And then there's the other end of the spectrum. Recently, a leader in a Christian movement among powerful business leaders cornered me with a newspaper clipping. It reported the apparent suicide of a top corporate executive (only 41). The businessman told me pointedly, "You've got to help us reach people like these."

This came on the heels of some outreaches to his business "tribe" where Jesus really touched hearts. Your rescue partnership is enabling us to activate a bold rescue strategy to take Christ's hope to what might be called the "reservations of the rich." We're committed to reach influential business leaders who are often bullish on the outside, but bleeding on the inside. And to train believers in that world to be rescuers where they are.

From the "up-and-outers" to what some would call the "down-and-outers," people are desperate for hope. Hope that only a crucified and risen Savior can give. And together with you, in a holy rescue partnership, we will deliver that hope to their world. And now, through our newly-launched Doug and Jon Show rescue Website, that hope is going to a world of lost young people on the Internet.

But hope was expensive. God's only Son sacrificed His very life to rescue us. And now, 2,000 years later, it is still sacrifice that makes spiritual rescue possible. Whether you're sacrificing a luxury or a necessity to give to make this work possible, please know that your sacrifice is deeply appreciated.

After praying about the needs of this upcoming Summer of Hope to Native young people, one schoolteacher friend gave his second generous gift in a month. When I told him I wasn't sure how he could afford to give like that, he said, "Well, I've been saving to get a boat - but this is so much more important. And so much more lasting." Then there are those who sacrifice a meal or two just so they can give, others who eke out their gift from their limited senior income. In God's accounting, it is not the amount of the gift that matters so much as the amount of the sacrifice.

So, thank you for the sacrifice you make so others may live. It's what our Savior did on a scale we could never repay. And I can't tell you how much your gift means right now. Just today I got another call like so many I've received in recent months - someone who loves to give to this ministry, who suddenly just doesn't have it to give. Our income has slowed down just at the point where we're hitting the most expensive rescue stretch of the year. So it's miracle time - a miracle fueled by the "loaves and fishes" sacrifices of friends like you.

A young man on a remote Indian reservation, deciding to die. A businessman at the top of the corporate mountain, deciding he can't go on. Vivid reminders of the urgency of getting there with Jesus while there's time. Night comes fast. We've got to work while it's day.
