Dear Friend,
Colonial buildings. President's birthplaces. And battlefields. Lots of battlefields. That's what you get on summer vacations when your dad is a history buff like I am. You see a lot of history, whether you want to or not.
For our RHM Team, this is a summer of battlefields - fighting battles where eternities will be decided. A dozen embattled reservations. The Native Olympic games where 5,000 young Native athletes are expected to gather. The Internet, where millions of souls are up for grabs.
The battles you're sending us to this summer could liberate many, many lives. Empowered by your prayers, God could use our summer offensive to make some life-saving spiritual history.
Some of that history is happening as you read this. Native young people from across the continent are converging on Warrior Leadership Summit (WLS), an amazing gathering of young spiritual warriors. Sioux and Seminole, Eskimo and Apache, Navajo and Cherokee - representatives of more than 60 nations will be there. And by God's grace, souls will be rescued, bondages will be broken and spiritual warriors will be born. To lead the battle for their people.
And from WLS, two On Eagles' Wings teams will launch to bring their Jesus to a dozen reservations in the U. S. and Canada. If God does what He's done before, it will be a summer of unprecedented breakthroughs - with hundreds choosing Christ. Where, for so long, so few have known Him.
Beyond the reservations is a world of young people who also break God's heart. They are so young and so lost - and so beyond the reach of most Christian influences. Unless you fight for them on the battlefield where they are - on the Internet. This summer, under our son Doug Hutchcraft's leadership, there is a massive youth media outreach initiative, including a one-of-a-kind website for lost young people. Add to that, my new 90-second A Life That Matters radio broadcast and website, and you're helping to detonate a Gospel explosion. The harvest could be amazing.
For us, summertime is time to fight for lives. And the outcome of these battles for lives depends on two decisive factors. The "air support" of your prayer that prepares the battlefield and scatters the enemy. And the ammunition of your gifts that literally decide how much we can do. I can't remember a time when we have needed you more on both fronts. If you can only give a little, your little will be multiplied in God's hands. If you can do more, it will really mean a lot at a time when some we've counted on are unable to give.
All summer, you're our partner in rescuing lives. In a sense, everywhere we go, you go. Every life we reach, you reach. That's how God sees it - as fruit ... "credited to your account" (Philippians 4:17 ). We're shipping out this week, knowing you are behind us. The battles will be intense. Jesus will be glorified. And the victories will last forever.
