News - Monthly Prayer Update From Ron

Dear Friend,

At our house, it's daffodil sprouts, sometimes poking through the snow. It's the February tease. Usually, sometime during the month, there's a little hint that winter won't last forever. A couple of milder days, an early-bird robin, signs of what's growing underground - reminders that, although winter's not over, spring is coming. That's called hope.

Sadly, so many people's lives are an endless, cold and dark winter - it's never Spring. They are, as the Bible says, "without hope and without God in the world" (Ephesians 2:12 ). Between the "happy new years" and "merry Christmases" and "happy birthdays," life is puzzle pieces without the top of the box, with no real meaning, no real answers. And no real anchor to cling to when everything you've ever depended on is caving in. Life seems to always end up as more of the unsatisfying same. It's always Winter, but never Spring.

That's why so many Native American young people decide suicide is the only answer. It's why so many seemingly successful people drift into affairs and addictions to find some escape from their winter. It's the spiritual cold and darkness that drives so many young people into the temporary relief of drugs or alcohol or sex - and the non-stop Internet searching for something.

One friend told me that the reason they give to help this ministry rescue the lost is because "we remember what we were like without Jesus." If you know what endless Winter was like, you don't want anyone else to live and die like that. We know what Spring is like now! Because of the Savior who says, "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10 ). That's hope.

And together, in partnership with you, we're in the hope business! Whatever happens to the economy this year, we know that our "Eternity, Inc." stock will only continue to appreciate!

We had a vivid reminder of the hope-difference over New Year's as our On Eagles' Wings warriors came to our Headquarters for a Winter Break Retreat. They are the face of hope for Native young people, rescued by Jesus from "the mud and mire" (Psalm 40:2 ), fiercely attacked by the enemy, and fervently proclaiming Him as their only Savior.

We're celebrating over 2,000 young people who have, in our first few months, found the hope of Christ at TheDougAndJonShow.com. And that's with the limited promotion we could afford this past year. When's the last time you heard of 30-40 young people coming to Christ virtually every day? And that's only the beginning! That's a lot of hope!

We're excited, too, about strategic opportunities this year to help Christian leaders in media, camping and church leadership - and thousands of everyday believers - to be all about rescuing the dying.

It's because you pray, it's because you give, that we're able to deliver the awesome News of Jesus across the country and around the world. And I believe this could be the most fruitful year of rescue we've ever had together! Since this first quarter of the year is usually our worst quarter financially, your gift this month will really make a difference. With so much rescue work launched, so many lives are at stake.

Because God has brought us together to do His work, winter will soon be over for many who have lived in a Christless night for too long. For them, spring really is just around the corner!

Grateful for your heart match with Him - and with us,

Ron Hutchcraft
