Dear Friend, What a year! I can't remember a year (and I've had a few!) where the landscape of our world has changed so dramatically. It raises the question David asked a long time ago: "When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" So many things we've been able to count on - "foundations" - have been shaken in recent months. And many believe "we ain't seen nothin' yet!" So "what can the righteous do?" David's answer neutralizes every uncertainty: "The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord is on His heavenly throne." Psalm 11:3-4
Nothing that really matters has changed - or ever will. Our Mighty God is still totally in charge. And we have the assurance that He uses the times to purify and position His people for His purposes! That's where my heart is - seeking the new thing God wants to do through the challenges and questions of this new season.
It was in "the year that King Uzziah died" (meaning "in the year that everything changed") that he "saw the Lord, seated on a throne, high and exalted" (Isaiah 6:1 ). That's when we really do see the Lord - in the times when everything is changing. Goodbye, pride and self-reliance...hello, humility and dependency. Goodbye, trusting in human resources...hello, abandonment to God's "mercies...new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23 ). There's something spiritually invigorating about turbulent times. It opens us up to new things God wants to say and do in our lives. And it opens up lost hearts that might otherwise be closed to hearing about Jesus. No doubt you have among your family, your circle of friends, your coworkers, people who are trying to navigate this whitewater without Jesus in their boat. They are looking for an anchor. And the Bible says of Jesus, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19 ). If there was ever a time for you to be telling about the peace you've found in Jesus, it's now! It's a peace that's based, not on what's going on around you, but on Who is going on inside you! Tell them about the Relationship that is a life anchor they cannot lose. He proved His love will never leave us when He hung on a cross for us. He proved His power is stronger than anything when He walked out of His grave. This is a rescue moment! Don't miss it! If there was ever a time for RHM to be pulling out the stops on getting out the Gospel, this is it! The economy continues to take a heavy toll on the giving this ministry depends on...and we're making significant adjustments as a result. But we will do everything possible to make the most of every tool He's given us with the gifts He provides. Our Matching Gift Challenge Because we view our connection with you as a relationship, I would love to hear a little of your heart at year-end, if you'd like to share that with me.Share your heart, or a prayer request that is heavy on your heart through our website. Thank you for your prayer and partnership with this ministry. Friends have never meant more. We so appreciate the fact that in the chatter and clutter of a busy world, you still welcome us in. I pray for you a year like no other, full of the adventure of a new surrender to God's amazing Plan! Expectant and grateful, Ron |
