Download MP3 (right click to save) Our grandson doesn’t know a lot of words yet, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t communicate. Oh no, no. Like when he comes up to me carrying his little sneakers and pointing to the door saying, “Ouuu.” There’s no ‘t’, but that means out. This time of year he thinks inside is boring. Outside is where the action is, right? I’m Ron Hutchcraft and apparently Jesus would agree with our grandson on where the action is—outside, our spiritual cocoon that is. The Bible describes the heart of Jesus with this example: “If a man owns a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?” (Matthew 18:12) See Jesus points to where most of the people are who need Him—outside the church, outside our comfort zone, outside our Christian cocoon. That’s where He’s asking us as His people to go—out. The heart of Jesus is for much more than just having church growth. He’s all about community impact. It’s not just church attendance He’s so interested in. He wants church deployment. Are we deployed where the people are who need Him? Are we just like staying in our holy huddles, celebrating with those who’ve already been rescued, already going to heaven? We just can’t wait for the lost people to come to us. We’ll have to leave where we’re comfortable and go where they are, like Jesus did. Our whole website is about how you can be a rescuer for people around you. I hope you’ll visit us there. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Matthew 18:12 |
