Spending Less This Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) There's no sugar-coating it, retailers are running pretty scared this holiday season. A tanking economy could very well make their greatest fear come true, people spending less this Christmas.A Child to the Rescue
Download MP3 (right click to save) You may not have heard of Alexis Goggins, but the people of Detroit think she's a hero. Last December, as a gunman aimed at her mother, this courageous seven-year-old jumped in front of the bullets and was shot six times. She survived, and she saved her mother's life. A child to the rescue!I'll Be Home for Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) The carol was written during World War II, and now it’s the dream of every person who has someone they love serving in places like Iraq or Afghanistan - "I’ll Be Home for Christmas." And we pray they soon will be.Retro Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) When it comes to Christmas gifts, my sons do it retro style. They love giving each other vintage toys that remind them of their past. Hooray for eBay - I guess.Kissing Baby Jesus
Download MP3 (right click to save) My wife has Nativities all over the house this time of year. And our two-year-old grandson loves arranging and rearranging shepherds, sheep and wise men. But most of all, he loves Baby Jesus. He'll just reach into the manger and hold Him in his little hand and then he tenderly kisses Jesus.Broken At Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) What a bummer - it was Christmas Day, and I was in the emergency room with a broken finger. It's tough to have something broken at Christmastime, especially if it's your heart that's broken. In the midst of all the celebrating, maybe you're feeling the pain of a great loss or a big hurt. This would be a wonderful time for you to experience what Jesus came to do. He said He was sent to "bind up the brokenhearted"; to put together broken pieces only He can put together, beginning with our broken relationship with God, who we're away from because we broke His laws and His heart by doing our life our way instead of His way. Jesus died for those sins. He was broken so we could be restored. If you want to begin your personal relationship with Jesus this Christmas season, call us at 888-NEED HIM. For all of us broken people, there is awesome healing power in His love. References: Isaiah 61:1 Making It Right At Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) The day after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, a woman told USA Today, "I called my Mother immediately and told her I love her. You never know when your time is up, and I want things to be right with everybody." A Gift With Your Name On It
Download MP3 (right click to save) "A present? For me?" That's what our three-year-old grandson asks whenever someone walks in with a wrapped box in their hands. No matter how old we are, we still like gifts that have our name on them. War Where Peace Was Born
Download MP3 (right click to save) Bethlehem's been in the headlines again this year as the scene of more Middle East violence. Strange. When Jesus was born there, the angels announced that His coming meant "peace on earth." The Other Christmas Tree
Download MP3 (right click to save) There's a moment that officially begins the Christmas season at our house - the night my son and I bring home the Christmas tree. Christmas would be incomplete without a tree! That's sorta how God feels about Christmas. It's incomplete without the tree. God's Greatest Gift
Download MP3 (right click to save) You'll be getting some gifts this Christmas season, and when you open those brightly wrapped packages there are two things you don't want to say: "How much do I owe you?" or "I don't want it." Home For Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) It was my wife's loneliest Christmas ever. She was in college and there was no money for her to go home, and she was one of only a dozen students on this empty campus while everyone else was home. Bending Low to Enter
Download MP3 (right click to save) My visit to Jesus' birthplace in Bethlehem was really something special. The cave is under the Church of the Nativity where the door into the church is so low you can't go in standing up. You have to bend low to enter, which is actually pretty appropriate. Getting Hit at Christmas
Download MP3 (right click to save) Our family was returning from our Christmas party when a drunk driver hit us head-on. Our car was totaled and some of us had a slightly uncomfortable Christmas. It's always hard to get hit; it's just a little tougher when you get hit at Christmas. |
