Download MP3 (right click to save) On a day of marathon football, you’ve got to hear my friend Steve’s story. I’m Ron Hutchcraft. He’s a big Green Bay Packers fan and he was watching the Packers play the Giants last year in a championship game. Man, he was psyched and psycho. Of course his wife was in the ninth month of pregnancy, but she knew that she had lost her husband for the whole game. Well, it went into an intense overtime, and they are at this turning point moment, his wife comes out of the bathroom, her bottom half of her clothes totally soaked. She said, “Honey, it’s time!” For one very long minute, he’s looking frantically at his wife, then the game, then his wife, then the game. Finally she said, “Honey, I’m only kidding.” This poor guy; he was like torn between his game and his girl. Unfortunately, a lot of us husbands have flunked that same test at times when the choice was really very real. We’ve all got our “game.” It’s our work, or our workout, or our entertainment, or our Internet, our remote. And too many of us have too often had time for the game (Oh yeah.) but not for our girl. We have left the woman of our life unnoticed, unheard, unappreciated and feeling like, for that moment at least, we’re married to something we think is more important than her. That is so wrong! God says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her” (Ephesians 5:25 ). She’s supposed to be the most important voice on earth. If that meant laying down your life for her in one great act of heroism, you’d do it. What love demands is tougher than that. It’s the daily sacrificing of what matters to us for what matters to her. She is so much more important than your “game.” Our website is about the things that really, really matter. I hope you’ll visit us there today. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Ephesians 5:25 |
