Download MP3 (right click to save) Jacob and Emma—those are the two most popular baby names in the U.S., and something’s happening out there in Babyland. Actually, a growing number of parents won’t settle for anything less than a unique name for their baby, like some recent celebrity baby names: Apple, Suri, Shiloh. Since 1955, the number of babies given one of the ten most popular names has dropped by nearly two-thirds. One analyst said, “We know the desire for uniqueness is going up.”
I’m Ron Hutchcraft. Let’s keep one thing straight. It’s not your name that makes you unique. Whether your name is Joe or John, Juno or Jumper Cable, you’re one-of-a-kind. Here’s why: as the Biblical psalmist says to God, “You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14 ). God wove a masterpiece when He made you and He only does originals. We weren’t designed by a cookie cutter Creator. If you don’t believe you’re an original, look at your fingerprint. There’s no one like you. In another place, the Bible says, “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10 ). Made by God to make a unique difference on this planet. Don’t ever sell yourself for cheap, and if you feel like you’re worthless, it may be because you’re away from the One who gave you your worth. Jesus came to die to bring us back to God…how much are you worth? The Son of God thought you were worth His life! If you’ve never begun a love relationship with Him and you’d like to, would you check out our website today—AlifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Psalm 139:13-14 ; Ephesians 2:10 |
