My friend had a serious bout with cancer, but God used the chemo and radiation treatments to knock it out. But they also knocked him out, too. He was slowly getting his strength back by resting up in his little cabin in the woods. One day he went out by the stream, and before he knew it, he was lying there asleep on the bank. When he woke up, he was very unhappy with what he saw above his head—the vultures were circling him! My friend stood up and shouted to them, “Leave me alone! I’m not dead yet!”

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and I’ve never had the physical challenges my friend has had, but I have often had the experience of feeling pretty spent physically, mentally, emotionally. Sometimes when folks get very tired, they’ll actually say, “I’m dead on my feet.” Well, call off the vultures and listen to this rejuvenating word from God, “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will…” (Hebrews 13:20 ). Now there is some good news.

God will make sure you have everything you need for everything He wants you to do. You’re exhausted; He’s not. You have no resources left; He does. You have no answers; He has all the answers. This verse says He’s the God who brought Jesus back from the dead. If you know Jesus, you belong to the God who does resurrections, and He still does them for people like you and me when there’s like no “me” left. Count on His resurrecting power, claim it and see what happens when it’s none of you and it’s all God!
