Download MP3 (right click to save) So all of a sudden the power went out in the whole area where we were staying with our son and his family. At the time, my wife was babysitting our precious 3-year-old grandson and a 6-year-old granddaughter. They were playing happily until the lights suddenly went out and it was pitch dark. Nobody had to tell them what to do—they knew. They headed for grandma’s arms—the safe place!
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you know, we’re living at a time when the lights have gone out suddenly for a lot of people. Our confidence is shaken; we feel more vulnerable. Jobs have disappeared, savings, retirement, homes, and for some the light of their marriage has gone out, or their health, or their hopes, or the one they loved. So where do you go when the lights go out and it’s suddenly dark? Millions have experienced the refuge the Bible talks about when it says, “He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge…The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 14:26 ; 18:10). It’s often the loss of some earth-security that drives us to the One who was meant to be our anchor all along, the God who made us and who loves us so much He sent His Son to die for our sins so we could be safe here, and safe forever. One Native American young woman told us about a lifetime of terrible sexual abuse. Then she said, “But when I gave my life to Jesus, for the first time in my life, I was safe.” He’s been the one safe place for so many of us, and He wants to be that for you. You want to know more about beginning a relationship with this Jesus? Would you visit our website today? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Proverbs 14:26 ; Proverbs 18:10 |
