Download MP3 (right click to save) When you buy your kids or grandkids toys these days, you'd better be sure you have batteries. They're usually not included and the toys usually require them. My daughter pointed out to me recently a helpful little feature some of her kids' toys have. It’s an indicator that their battery is low. She said, "It’s too bad people don't have that." I said, “That’s a thought worth pursuing.” So I will. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and toys know, and phones know, TV remotes know when their power's running low, and they tell us it's time to recharge before things shut down completely. Even that can happen to people—spiritually that is. You can be running hard, not even realizing that the source of your power is running low. Everything is so much harder, you're more stressed, the joy is gone, and you're on your way to shutting down. Our source of strength, our spiritual battery, is our regular time with our Lord where we see ourselves through His eyes. Paul put his finger on the problem when he asked some of the folks he was working with: "After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" (Galatians 3:3 ). I recognize that. I've done that. I’ve started down a road all charged up by meaningful times with my Lord on a regular basis, letting Him shape my day and my attitudes, and then I get busy, I revert unintentionally to Ron-power and I feel the unraveling effects. Listen, if your peace has been shrinking and your stressed feelings growing, could be your battery's low and it's time to get back to your Jesus, who is the source of your power. We want to do everything we can to strengthen that relationship. I hope you’ll visit our website today. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org.
