Download MP3 (right click to save) I still remember the day at the beach when the lifeguards got us all out of the water because someone had spotted a shark. I didn’t mind cutting short my water time at all that day. Oh, I’ve heard the shark stories. One of the most memorable, Bethany Hamilton was one of those shark stories. At fourteen she was one of the best young surfers in the world; she was attacked by a shark. She lost her left arm in that attack, but you know, she’s talking about what she gained. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and here’s what Bethany says about what she lost. “This was God’s plan for my life and I’m going to go with it.” Wow, man. A close family friend said, “She believes that her arm was taken by the shark so that she would be noticed and that she would help and inspire others.” Now here’s what God says, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 ). A life that matters is anchored to the assurance that life is not random and you are living the plan. Now if God’s in control, then He’s either sent it or allowed it. So the question isn’t why; it’s how can God use this? That’s a hope that none of life’s sharks can ever take away from you. If you find encouragement in these little daily visits, let me encourage you to visit our website for more. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters.
