He’s an unlikely guy to be talking this way, but the message he delivered is one we need to hear. Penn Jillette is a comedian, a magician, a filmmaker, and he’s an atheist. Someone gave him a Bible recently, and his reaction was pretty unpredictable.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and Penn Jillette said, “How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate someone to believe that everlasting hell is possible and not tell them that?” Sometimes unbelievers see the things about us believers that we ought to see. Here’s a man who understands the implications of knowing Christ more clearly than we sometimes do. If you believe that Jesus’ death for our sins is the only way sins can be forgiven, and it is. If you care about the people in your personal world, and you do, how can you keep from them the information on which their eternity depends?

Paul risked everything. He paid a high price to tell as many people about his Savior as possible. Here’s why. He said, “Christ’s love compels us…we implore you on Christ’s behalf, ‘Be reconciled to God’” (2 Corinthians 5:14 , 20). We have to tell the people we know because of how He loves us and because we want people we love to experience His love.

What keeps us from loving them enough to tell them? It’s fear: fear of rejection, fear of failing. And our fears all have one thing in common–they’re all about me. Shouldn’t my greater fear be what will happen to them if I don’t tell them? To not give them the life-or-death information we have is the most selfish choice we could ever make. To tell them about Him is clearly the most loving thing we could ever do.

There’s a lot of help at our website so you can take people to heaven with you. It’s ALifeThatMatter.org.
