Download MP3 (right click to save) I was a mess the night they took me to the hospital because I’d passed out from dehydration. See, I’m not the hospital type, and I let it show with my stinky attitude in E. R. When this hard core nurse said they had to admit me, let’s just say I’m not proud of how I handled it until my wife said, “I want to remind you, Honey, of something you told me.” Oh, I hate that. I can’t argue with myself. She said, “Don’t forget who you are, and don’t forget why you’re here.” Wakeup call! Well, I had an empty bed in my room, so we set up a Christian bookstore; gave away books and CDs, and spread the Gospel. And the last day I was there, Miss Hardcore stopped by and said, “Some of us were talking, and we’ve figured out why you were here. You were sent here for all us pagans.”
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and those days at the hospital were an unforgettable reminder to me of something all of us Jesus-followers can’t afford to forget. No matter where you put a believer, their job is the same—represent Christ. “We are Christ’s ambassadors, (the Bible says) as though God were making His appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20 ). Now, your situation may change, your environment may change, but your mission never does. Who you are an ambassador for never changes; who you’re an ambassador to may change many times. So when you know who you are—Jesus’ personal representative wherever you are—you look at every circumstance as divine positioning to help people go to heaven, whether you’re in an emergency room, a classroom, a nursing home or a funeral home. You are there for Jesus! How to help other people be in heaven with you someday. You’ll find more about that at our website. Would you go there today? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org.
