Download MP3 (right click to save) Maybe you remember when a major earthquake shook the San Francisco area back in 1989. It was strong enough to break the Bay Bridge and create traffic headaches for months. The Golden Gate Bridge literally has one leg on the San Andreas Fault, but it was undamaged by the same quake. The reason? The Bay Bridge was built rigid all the way through. The Golden Gate is solidly anchored, but it’s built to flex when there’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and there a clue here as to how you and I can make it through the quake we’re all in right now. So much is uncertain…it’s changing. Nobody’s sure what’s going to still be standing when this quake stops. If you’re rigid in the quake, you may break. If you’re willing to flex, you’ll make it. The other day I stood back from my fascination with the breaking news and I stood back long enough to try to see all this from God’s perspective. God showed me a fundamental premise of how He works: God uses the times His people are in to purify them and position them for His purposes. All through the Bible, God uses famines, political upheaval, persecution, the collapse of nations, disasters to get His people where He wants them to be spiritually, geographically. And He’s doing it today. That’s why we need to be flexible to allow Him to change, and reshape, and reposition your life as He wants it to be; as He’s planned for it to be since before there was a you. David said, “I trust in You, O Lord; “You are my God.” My times are in Your hands” (Psalm 31:14-15 ). There’s a lot more about God’s great make-a-difference plan for you at our website. I hope you’ll check it out. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Psalm 31:14-15 |
