Download MP3 (right click to save) I’ve been in a lot of airports, but only once was I stopped by a TV reporter to comment on something in the news. I was arriving in Cleveland on a flight from New York the morning after the first World Trade Center bombing. The reporter said, “How are people reacting there?” And all I could say was, “We suddenly feel vulnerable.”
I’m Ron Hutchcraft. And I thought, Boy that is our word for times now, isn’t it? The economic upheavals of the past year have left a lot of folks feeling that way. Where’s your money safe, your retirement, your future, your job? Throw in some quakes in your personal life. Yeah, vulnerable’s the word. So many things we thought were rocks we could stand on turned out to be Jello, and so many castles proved to be sandcastles. ”Safe” has never seemed more important or harder to find. Honestly, there’s not a person or thing we have on earth that isn’t ultimately loseable except one. The Bible says: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10 ). For 2,000 years, people have acknowledged their vulnerability and they have run to a man named Jesus, who promised life with a quality only He could deliver–everlasting life. It wasn’t cheap, though. We’ve dissed God to do our life our way instead of God’s way, and we couldn’t be in greater danger—eternal danger. But in the greatest act of love in history, Jesus did the dying for our sin, then He walked out of His grave, showing He’s bigger than everything that’s bigger than you are. Don’t settle for just having beliefs about Jesus. You need to belong to Him, because He is our one safe place–forever. Our website exists to help people be sure they belong to Jesus Christ, and I would urge you to check it out today. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Proverbs 18:10 |
