Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s funny how you adapt pretty quickly to a new normal; like when we learned to live without electricity after a storm. The first day without power, we kept turning on useless light switches. Pretty soon we retrained ourselves; we didn’t bother with trying to turn on a light. A few days later, after we managed to get a generator going, my wife had to go to the other end of the house to check on something. She came back to the living room and said, “I can’t believe what I just did. I walked all the way through the house in total darkness, and I didn’t have to anymore!” I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you know, my wife was walking in what I called unnecessary darkness. She spent a few minutes there; some people spend their whole life there. See, we’re so used to living in the dark, we think that’s just the way it is. Our lives are full, but they’re not fulfilling. We go through life wondering, “Where’s the meaning? What’s the purpose of all this? What’s going to fill this hole in my heart? Why am I here?” And there’s a darkness inside us, too. We keep losing the battle against the junk inside us that keeps messing up the things and the people we care about. But it’s unnecessary darkness. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12 ). We’re in the dark because we’re away from God…away from God because of our sin. Jesus died to pay for and conquer that sin, so He can now give you a relationship with God that turns on the light that you were created to live in. You don’t have to spend one more day in the dark. If you want to be sure you belong to Him and you want to have a relationship with Him, I hope you’ll check out our website today—ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: John 8:12 |
