Download MP3 (right click to save) At a recent ministry event, I found a good friend of ours sitting on the floor with our three-year-old grandson, showing him how to flex his muscles. That wasn’t the best part. He taught him a little routine that our little guy has been repeating several times a day. He flexes his left bicep (such as it is), and says “Thunder!” Followed by flexing his right bicep, then “Lightning!” Followed by kissing each bicep. ”Thunder! Lightning!” I’m Ron Hutchcraft. As I was reading the Bible, I couldn’t help but think about that “thunder and lightning” confidence that my little guy has, because of weapons I have that can overcome even the darkest spiritual forces. Great spiritual ambassador, Paul, said that they had prevailed through all kinds of pain and attacks “with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left” (2 Corinthians 6:7 ). “Thunder! Lightning!” Later, Paul said, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4 ). So why are we so often overcome by worry, stress, anger, how people treat us, crises, bad news? Because we’re not using the weapons that win. What are God’s weapons? The laser–fervent prayer that focuses God’s power on a person or situation on earth; the sword—meeting situations with Scripture; the cross—lifting up Jesus, His work on the cross–the devil can’t stand it. And then the banner–lifting up praise to God in every situation. You can prevail, no matter the battle because you have got God’s “thunder” and “lightning!” This radio program references: 2 Corinthians 6:7 , 10:4 |
