Download MP3 (right click to save) One inch of ice—that’s all it took to totally shut down our area for days. It looked like a battlefield with poles and trees and wires down everywhere. We were some of the 100,000 people who were without power for days; actually nine days in our case. You know, it didn’t really matter what any of us had planned for that week. God changed all our plans. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and sitting here in the dark and listening to what sounded like repeated thunder on our roof as parts of trees were coming down, God reminded me of some extraordinary statements that He made to Job: “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’ The breath of God produces ice. He loads the clouds with moisture; He scatters His lightning through them. They swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do whatever He commands them. Stop and consider God’s wonders” (Job 37:5-14 ). I watch the Weather Channel a lot so I can plan, but I’m thinking we might as well call it the God Channel, because the weather is just a display of the majesty and sovereignty of Almighty God. One Old Testament prophet said, “The Lord has His way in the…storm” (Nahum 1:3 ). In that “weather analysis” God gave Job, He points out how He uses the weather for His glory: “So that all men He has made may know His work, He stops every man from his labor.” Well, that’s what happened with our ice storm. That’s what God is doing with the “weather” He’s sending in your life right now. He’s reminding us of who’s in charge and reshaping our plans to line them up with His Master Plan. Hey, there’s a lot more spiritual encouragement at our website, and I hope you’ll check it out today. Let me invite you over there—AlifeThatMatters.org.
