Some recent research confirms that people that are actively religious tend to be physically healthier, emotionally healthier, and their children are less likely to get involved in destructive behaviors. Good news, huh? But it isn't all good news. See, the bad news for us religious people isn't from a survey. It's from the Bible. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and Jesus painted this sobering picture of what's going to happen on judgment day to some very religious people. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name, and in Your Name drive out demons and perform many miracles?" (Matthew 7:21-22 ). It sounds like these people are actually Christian leaders, doesn't it? "Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you'" (Matthew 7:23 ). This has to be some of the most chilling, most alarming words in the Bible, spoken to people who had lots of Christianity but somehow missed Christ. That why Paul warns us to "examine yourselves to see whether you're in the faith" (2 Corinthians 3:5 ). Listen, ask yourself, "Has there ever been a time when I've been to that cross and said, 'Jesus, what You did there was for me'?" Do you know that there's been a time when you actually grabbed Jesus as your only hope for being rescued from your sin? If not, would you reach out to Him and get it done today? He does not ever want you to hear those words, "I never knew you." If you have any doubt about whether you've anchored your life to Jesus Christ, would you go to our website and let us help you be sure. It's ALifeThatMatters.org.
