Download MP3 (right click to save) At a recent parent-teacher conference, our daughter realized that she and our grandson’s teacher had both asked him for an explanation of the same creative answer on a recent test. When Mom asked, he gave one of his characteristically amusing replies: “Mom, there are some things that only one mind can know.” She cracked up! I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and actually without knowing it, our grandson was speaking one of life’s great discoveries—about God, that is. On the eve of this new year, we have no idea what the next months will hold. You can be pretty sure there will be some things you won’t understand. You may be in the middle of some “Why, God?” questions even now. In the Bible, God reminds us, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so My are ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9 ). We don’t need a God who’s so small we can figure Him out. We need an infinite God who’s bigger and more powerful than we can comprehend. The Bible says, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His paths beyond tracing out!” (Romans 11:33 ). Someone has wisely said, “When you cannot trace God’s hand, trust God’s heart.” That’s good advice for the unpredictable year ahead. “Why, God?” That’s the wrong question. Instead ask, “How can God use this?” And stop trying to figure Him out. There are some things that only one mind can know. Happy New Year! This radio program references: Isaiah 55:9 ; Romans 11:33 |
