Download MP3 (right click to save) It's President Obama's turn now to try to bring lasting peace to the Middle East. As recent events have demonstrated again, it's always a matter of time before the Middle East explodes again. Near the end of his presidency, here's what President Bill Clinton said: "The Middle East is where God is reminding us every day that we are not in control." I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and the focus of the news will shift every day to the hot-spot du jour. But the spotlight of God, the Lord of history, is always focused on the Middle East. It's where God planted the people He chose. It’s where He put His temple. It’s where His Son came for His earthly ministry, and it’s the place Jesus will return to and wrap up human history after a series of events in the Middle East that culminate in the famed Battle of Armageddon. Now, from God's perspective, it always has and it always will come back to the Middle East. Is it any wonder God calls us to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be secure" (Psalm 122:6 ). It's been said many times, but it's still as true as can be, “History is His story." Jesus really is, as He said, "The Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End" (Revelation 22:13 ). And when things look like they're out of control, in current events or in your life, He is still totally in control. And when we think we're in control, it's just the illusion of control. I love the story of the new believer who was given a Bible right after he came to Christ. He wasn’t told where to read, so he read the book of Revelation. And when the man who gave it to him asked him if he understood anything there, he said, "Just this—we win." That’s true! When you're with Jesus, you’re always on the winning side.
