Download MP3 (right click to save) You’ve probably seen Vince and his chamois in those ever-present TV commercials. He’s the 50s-type guy who pitches those little cloths that can soak up a small flood. And you know they can, because he demonstrates their absorbency by making various puddles disappear. Then they give the number to call.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and advertisers know the power of a demonstration to interest someone in their product. It’s the same way with the Good News about Jesus Christ. Demonstrate your relationship with Christ by praying with someone who needs Him. No, not just pray for them, but pray with them. It’s a practical example of this Biblical strategy for opening a lost heart. Paul said, “Pray…that God may open a door for our message...make the most of every opportunity” (Colossians 4:3-5 ). One of your great spiritual opportunities is when a person shares some burden or hurt or crisis they’re dealing with. And then you can say, “I’m going to do what I do for myself at times like these, my friend. I’m going to bring it to the most powerful person there is. Would it be OK with you if I pray right now about it?” I’ve never had anyone turn me down. Sometimes when I open my eyes, there are tears in theirs because they’ve never heard their name in a prayer before in their life. See, you’ve just had your relationship with Jesus right in front of them, and that may even give you the opportunity to explain that, “I couldn’t always talk to Him like that. There used to be a wall between us. If you ever want to know how it came down, I’d love to tell you.” See, there’s no more powerful way to demonstrate the relationship you want for them than to pray with them. There’s a whole lot more about how to take the people you care about to heaven with you at our website. Check it out, will you? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org.
