Download MP3 (right click to save) When we were first married, my honey and I often had a TV date to watch one of our favorite TV shows “The Fugitive.” More recently, of course, that was the basis for the blockbuster movie of the same name. The Fugitive, Richard Kimble, was chasing a one-armed man he knew had murdered his wife; Lt. Gerard was chasing Richard Kimble who he thought was the murderer. He always seemed to be one step behind the fugitive. Unlike God, who pursues His fugitives and always catches them.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and for many of God’s children, there’s been a time in your life when you were the one running from God and what He wanted you to do. Maybe you are right now. And most of us know someone we care about who’s running from God in some way, don’t we? I was thinking of some spiritual fugitives I prayed for the other day when I came upon what Jacob said about how God had intercepted him. As a young man, Jacob had been running from some treacherous things he had done when God suddenly showed up dramatically in a vision of an angel-populated ladder from heaven. Years later, God told Jacob to return to that place. The Bible says, “It was there God revealed Himself to him when he was fleeing” (Genesis 35:7 ). And that is ground to pray on—that God will reveal Himself to someone you care about while they’re fleeing. He did it with Jacob; He did it with Jonah; He did it with Peter. Thank God, His stubborn love pursues us when we’re running from Him, and He shows up big-time when we’re His fugitive. Maybe you’re at a point where you say it’s time to get back to Jesus. Would you check out our website today? I think it might help. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Genesis 35:7 |
