Download MP3 (right click to save) My friend worked with young people on a Southwest Indian reservation for fourteen years. As part of his ministry, he'd get them out of the rez world they knew and take them to a youth camp I spoke for in the Rockies. It was my first real contact with Native young people - the seed of what would become our groundbreaking On Eagles' Wings ministry. My friend told me that those young people were so touched by God at the camp that they would do something Native kids just don't do. They would sing and even compose Jesus-songs all the way home until they got to the border of the reservation. He said the Jesus-songs stopped at the border of home.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and that's not just a reservation phenomenon. A lot of us leave him at the door of our home territory; whether that's the place where we work, we recreate, we work out, or we go to school. There's something about home territory that suddenly freezes our mouth and buries our Jesus-story. We need to hear the command Jesus gave to a man that He had delivered from demonic possession. This re-born man wanted to travel with Jesus on His mission trips. Jesus said, "'Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.' So the man...began to tell in the Decapolis (that was his home area) how much Jesus had done for him" (Mark 5:18-20 ). Don't just talk Jesus at church or in an outreach. Take Him home to your personal world. Don't leave Him at the door! They need Him so much! I so want to help you know how to talk about Him in a way that will communicate. That's why our website's there. Would you check it out? It's called ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Mark 5:18-20 Learn how to share these articles with your friends (video tutorial) |
