Download MP3 (right click to save) I heard one Senator addressing his concern with what has seemed like an infinite flow of money to bail out companies and institutions. He simply said, “We need an exit strategy.” Well, the military talks about exit strategies, too, as in how to successfully leave Iraq or Afghanistan. Then there’s the exit strategy they encourage you to think about when you get on a commercial airliner–be sure you know where the exits are, just in case. An exit strategy…that might be what you need right now.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and God identifies an exit strategy as being an important key to overcoming that temptation that pulls you away from Him and into guilt and regret. The Bible assures us that “God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will, with the temptation, also make a way of escape that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV). The failure to choose your exit strategy when you’re tempted is a major reason why we keep falling for that same old junk. You know where you’re weak. You know what the devil’s always used to bring you down. Where’s your exit? Don’t be around the people; don’t go to the places where you tend to fall. Who’s the accountability partner you can call when the heat is on? Don’t make that first computer click that takes you where you never should go; look away when you want to look more. Don’t watch or listen to what feeds your dark side. You’ve been ambushed, defeated and degraded so many times. Choose your “way of escape!” Start beating what’s always beaten you! Hey, as we fight these battles, we want to be an encouragement to you. And I would encourage you to visit our website for that. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org.
