Download MP3 (right click to save) If you see sports highlights of last weekend’s football games, I’m guessing they won’t show any huddles. Oh, yeah, huddles are important. It’s where you get ready to play the game, but hey, it’s not where the points are scored that decide the game.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft. Imagine some player saying, “Wait! Wait! Do we have to leave the huddle? I kind of like just being together with the team here.” Hey, wake up, boy! The huddle’s where you get ready for the game, not where it’s won or lost. Well, unfortunately, it seems like a lot of the people on Team Jesus are stuck in the huddle. Oh, we love to go to our Christian meetings and fellowshipping with our Christian friends, singing our Christian songs, while most of the people around us are headed for an unthinkable eternity. There’s a troubling Biblical picture of four lepers who lived outside the city walls of Samaria, which was under a long enemy siege. The hunger was so desperate in the city the people were even resorting to cannibalism. These lepers decided to try to surrendering to the enemy, and they’re shocked to find the enemy camp deserted because of a miraculous deliverance by God. Oh, and tents full of food! Well they gorged themselves until one of them says, “We’re not doing right. This is the day of good news, and we are keeping it to ourselves” (2 Kings 7:9 ). Dear Lord, is that us…dying people all around us and we have what will save them but we’re sitting on it? Someone where you are desperately needs you to be the face, voice, the hands of Jesus for them. Get out of the huddle and get in the game. If you want to take some people to heaven with you through your relationships with them, then our website is the kind of place you’ll find help in doing that. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: 2 Kings 7:9 |
