Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s getting to be that time of year in much of America where the weather really can’t make up its mind. You can get a blizzard, you can get balmy and everything in between. But there’s that growing anticipation of what you know is coming, maybe soon, maybe a little later. But one day pretty soon, Spring is going to pop out. When we were living in New Jersey, I knew the day Spring began for me. One day I saw bushes along the highway. The next day, suddenly, those bushes were covered with yellow forsythia flowers. Of course, they didn’t really happen suddenly; they’d been getting ready to come for a long time. Spring had been coming for a while, even though it was invisible to me. I’m Ron Hutchcraft. You know we can learn a lot about the ways of God through the ways He brings Spring out of winter. That may be what He’s doing right now in the middle of what has been for you a cold and dark winter season of your life. He’s working beneath the ground. He’s preparing a Spring that you just can’t see right now. He said to a discouraged prophet years ago: “The revelation awaits an appointed time…though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:3 ). Would you let that be a promise for you? Just because you can’t see what God is doing doesn’t mean God isn’t doing something. The fact is, most of what God does is invisible—like shaping a baby in a woman’s womb or germinating the seeds of Spring. But when His work is ready, you will see what He’s been doing. And it will be beautiful; it will be life-giving. Until then, illuminate your winter with the assurance that Spring is coming. I hope you’ll find some more encouragement at our website.
