They call them recession gardens–saving money by growing your own food. Listen, if I’m going to do a garden, I know who I’m going to look to as my consultant. My friend, Mel, has the ultimate garden, and I’ll tell you, long before it was a recession survival strategy. And guess what he’s got around his amazing garden? A fence. You know why? “Yeah, to keep everybody from enjoying it.” No, no. It’s so we can keep enjoying it. The fence is there to make sure that beautiful garden stays beautiful.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you know, God created a garden to grow a beautiful love between two people. It’s called sex—a wonderful gift from a loving Heavenly Father. Unfortunately, it’s a gift that many have devalued, spoiled and ruined because they didn’t keep it in the fence. The Bible says, “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure” (Hebrews 13:4 ). The Inventor of sex put a fence around it called marriage. It’s designed by God to be an exclusive language of love between one man and one woman in a lifetime covenant called marriage. Why the fence? To keep us from enjoying it? No, to make sure we do enjoy it. To make sure the garden stays a garden. Sex at its best is reserved for those who do it God’s way–keeping it in the fence of marriage. The gift of sex is too good to ruin by rushing it or doing it outside that committed relationship. Is it hard to keep it inside the fence? Yeah. Is it worth it? Big time! This radio program references: Hebrews 13:4 |
