Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s time for March Madness again. You say, “What? Late Spring insanity?” No, if you’re a sports fan, you know it’s time for the exciting national basketball tournament that pits America’s best college teams against each other and ultimately crowns the national champion. Every year, some of the predictable giants are there. But also, a few of those underdog or “Cinderella” teams; schools that a lot of people have never heard of and few expected to be there for what they call “the dance.” And sometimes those underdogs surprise everyone. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and it is cool when someone you’d never expect to even be in the game ends up winning it all, which is a pattern I’ve seen in the heroes of the Bible. God loves to make champions out of those that others would call, and who even call themselves, underdogs. When God recruited Gideon to be His brave military leader against a powerful enemy, Gideon argued: “But Lord…my clan is the weakest, and I am the least in my family” (Judges 6:15 ). When God called Saul to be Israel’s first king, he objected: “I am from the smallest tribe…my clan is the least” (1 Samuel 9:21 ). And when God made the Jews His chosen people, He said, “The Lord did not choose you because you were most numerous, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you” (Deuteronomy 7:7 ). If you’re questioning whether God can use someone like you, you think you’re inadequate, you may very well be God’s man or woman. Because when God uses an underdog to do great things for Him, everyone knows that it had to be God, and He gets all the glory. Hey, our website will point you to ways that you can make the greatest possible difference with the rest of your life. Would you check it out? ALifeThatMatters.org.
