Download MP3 (right click to save) A lot of my heroes growing up were baseball players. Of course that’s still true for a lot of kids today. I guess that’s why it’s so sad that while we’re enjoying this baseball season, there’s this big old cloud over some of our heroes. Can you say steroids? I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and Daniel Naulty, actually, is one of the former Major Leaguers whose testimony helped expose this whole steroid thing. He was in the Majors for four seasons. He was even around for a championship season with the Yankees, and now he talks about how he believes he wouldn’t have made it past the Minor Leagues except for the juice. He’s living with a lot of regrets, he says. He talks about all his baseball friends who got cut while quote, “I kept sticking needles in me to get ahead.” Now he knows how many people he hurt by doing anything to get ahead. I think that’s an important reminder for all of us hard-chargers who want a life that matters. Don’t sell your soul to succeed. You’ll be at the top of the mountain and you will absolutely hate it there. Dan Naulty says his deepest depression came after winning a World Series. He said, “I thought the World Series was going to be God. It wasn’t.” And that’s actually when he looked for something more lasting, and he gave his life to the Man who said these words, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6 ). He gave his life to Jesus Christ and he found the only God that could fill the hole in our hearts. If you’re ready for that kind of a move in your life, I’d invite you to visit our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: John 14:6 |
