Download MP3 (right click to save) One of our coworkers told me and another team member about a long ago college romance. She said, “Our first year, he treated me just fine. The next year he came back with a car, and things changed. He invited me to a drive-in movie, and that was the night I ended our relationship.” I said, “Did you have a problem with going to a drive-in?” She said, “No. He just said, ‘Oh, we’ll give them a real show!’” Well, that was the end right there. The guy I was with said, “Not me! Man, I always said if I was going to spend $8.00 on a movie, I’m not going to waste it making out!” I said, “So you wait until it won’t cost you anything? Hey, wait! Making out always costs you!”
I’m Ron Hutchcraft. You know, passion does have its price tag if it’s outside the fence called marriage that God put around physical intimacy. It always costs to stir up passions that you can’t righteously satisfy—inside the fence of marriage. Here’s what God, the Inventor of sex says, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 ). When you devalue or degrade that temple by touching what you shouldn’t touch or going where you shouldn’t go, it costs God’s blessing, your self-respect, shame and regrets now and when you’re married. Oh yeah, it costs. But there’s hope. Jesus died to forgive and restore us. The Bible says, “the blood of Jesus…purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:6 ) which could mean something awesome. You can be clean again. Check out our website today, will you—ALifeThatMatters.org? This radio program references: 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 ; 1 John 1:6 |
