Download MP3 (right click to save) My friend turned me loose after hours one night in the store he owns. It’s a Baskin-Robbins ice cream store with all those flavors—lots of flavors. That’s actually how God feels. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and you can tell that just by looking at us…God likes variety in the people He’s created. He’s made many flavors—a rainbow of colors. You know the song’s right, “Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight.” Now, as we celebrate a milestone election, it’s a good time to celebrate the racial diversity God’s created and to stand against anything that allows that rainbow to come between us. In the 1st Century, racial animosity was strong between Jews and Gentiles. And then came Jesus who gave both a new, more eternal identity. The Bible says, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus…There is neither Jew nor Greek…for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26 , 28). See, Jesus doesn’t erase the racial identity He gave us. But He’s moved us beyond basing our identity on our race or color, or beyond defining another person or our treatment of them on it. Black is beautiful, white is beautiful, brown, the yellow of Asia, but it was never meant to be who we are. The ground is level at the cross of Jesus, where sinners of every color meet to have their sins forgiven. And that’s where we get the real identity we were supposed to have—a child of God through the blood of His Son. It’s a great time to be celebrating our uniqueness and the new creation we can be because Jesus died to destroy the pride and prejudice in every human heart. Hope you’ll visit us at our website ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Galatians 3:26 , 28 |
