Download MP3 (right click to save) Jesus said we all need faith like a little child. Sometimes our little three-year-old granddaughter says things that remind me why He said that. She’d been in bed for a couple of hours, but she was wide awake when her Mom checked on her. She asked, "Honey, what are you doing all this time?" That little girl's answer was immediate...it was striking. She said, “Listening to God.” I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and if there’s one thing we should resolve to do more of in this new year ahead of us, that should be it—listening to God. The Bible says we need to "be still" to "know that He is God" (Psalm 46:10 ). And if we've ever needed to know He's God every day, it’s in this kind of time we're living in. But so often we get "Marthaed." You know, one day Jesus came for dinner at the home of His friends Mary and Martha. The Bible says, "Mary...sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made" (Luke 10:39-40 ). Martha was stressed out by her big "to do" list. She was actually missing Jesus in the middle of serving Him. And when she resented her sister not hyperventilating with her, Jesus said: "Martha...you are worried…about many things. But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better..." (Luke 10:41 ). Enough said. Jesus would rather have you spending time in His presence than running around "doing" all the time. Which means we should be making quiet time with Him a non-negotiable of our daily schedule. What a great resolution for the years ahead. A life on course, a life that matters, takes time out for "listening to God." We'd love to help you know more about how to hear His voice to make a greater difference with your life in the year ahead. Would you go to our website? It's ALifeThatMatters.org.
