Download MP3 (right click to save) When we’ve taken teams of Native young people to remote Alaskan villages, we’ve flown with some awesome missionary pilots. They really know how to navigate the challenges. Now, when you’re flying, so much depends on your attitude…actually, your life and the lives of your passengers depend on your attitude. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and fundamentally, that word attitude is a navigational word. Your attitude is your position in relation to the horizon, because that’s the only thing that you can always count on. Now, we talk about someone having a good attitude, a bad attitude, a positive attitude, a negative attitude. If your attitude is bad or negative or discouraged, it’s because of your position in relation to the horizon—the one fixed point in your life…your never-changing, always faithful God. That’s why the Bible says, “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3 ). Just like a pilot, you don’t decide what kind of weather there will be around you or what your emotions are going to do. But you do decide what you’re going to focus on. And the one way to stay steady through all kinds of turbulence and turmoil is to keep bringing your heart and mind back to the God who’s totally committed to you and totally in control. When you’re flying, you can’t just set your attitude once and be done with it. You have to keep adjusting your attitude to line it back up with the horizon, and that’s how it is with the flight you and I make each day. Throughout the flight, keep adjusting your attitude to line it up with that one Fixed Point. We want to provide as much spiritual encouragement for you as we can on a daily basis.
