I love sunsets. I have had the privilege of seeing the sun go down over the Atlantic, the Pacific, the desert, the city, the Great Lakes, and then comes the night. But here’s an interesting scientific fact. However many sunsets there have been since this world began, there have been exactly that many sunrises. There’s never a sunset without a sunrise.

I’m Ron Hutchcraft and that may actually be a spiritual principle you need to know, because it feels pretty dark right now. You haven’t seen any sunshine for a while. You need the hope of this wonderful promise from God, “Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5 ). God always keeps His promises, and He’s essentially said, “There will never be a sunset without a sunrise.”

Every ending is the beginning of a new chapter God is writing. God puts our pain in perspective with another analogy that certainly every mother can relate to, “You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world” (John 16:20-22 ). We know it from the way we come into the world. God uses a painful process to give birth to something beautiful, and the beautiful result lasts much longer than the pain.

Don’t miss what God is doing by dwelling on what’s gone. Sunrise is coming. Don’t miss it because you pulled all the shades and stayed in a dark corner!
