Download MP3 (right click to save) This year the “must have” toy is a little electronic hamster called, of all things, a Zsu-Zsu Pet. In past years, parents have combed the mall for Cabbage Patch Kids, Star Wars figures, Tickle Me Elmo’s, X-Box. Even if it’s not the toy du jour, many parents will do whatever it takes to get what will make their kids happy. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and ultimately, what will really make them happy is something you can’t buy in any mall; something that is a lot harder to deliver. Things like Mommy and Daddy not fighting so much, a parent who will be there in the times that matter to them, a mom or dad who yells less; who lays off the criticizing; who tells them what’s good about them, not just what’s wrong with them. If we could just admit we’re wrong; if we would hear them out before we start talking; if we’d love them when there’s no reason, that would be a gift they would cherish. Their greatest wish may be simply be that the love from which they came would stay together—that mom and dad would fight for the marriage that’s in trouble. This Christmas season, would you be willing to make the sacrifice to give your son or daughter what will truly make them happy? It’s a gift only you can give, but it’s a gift you may not be able to give without outside help—Jesus’ help. Because we’ve all got a dark side that we’re powerless to change. That’s why Jesus came; that’s why Jesus died; that’s why Jesus knocks on the door of your heart, offering to come in and change your life to keep this promise, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ). That’s the gift He will give to you if you’ll ask Him in—a transformed mommy or daddy. How to begin a relationship with Him? Check out our website…ALifeThatMatters.org.
