Download MP3 (right click to save) My wife and I met at a Christian college, so we weren't candidates for the common disease people caught during our last year there. They called it Senior Panic. A lot came there, hoping to find Miss or Mr. Right. I mean, if you can't find him or her at this great Christian school, where are you going to find one? Now you're a senior, and you're still unattached! That's where Senior Panic set in, "I'm never going to be married if I don't get someone soon!" And there was a tendency to do whatever it took to get someone or to settle for whoever you could get. Isn't someone better than no one? I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and there is a lonelier lonely than being single. That’s being married to the wrong person. That’s one of the loneliest feelings in the world. And you don't have to be a senior in college to panic and make a choice that will ultimately yield great disappointment and unhappiness. It’s a great time to revisit a powerful prescription for happiness from the Old Testament. As Abraham sends his servant to bring back the woman his son Isaac is to marry, here are the marching orders: "Let her be the one the Lord has chosen" (Genesis 24:44 ). So many who didn't wait for the one the Lord chose would tell you, "Don't do it! Wait for God's best." God's Word says, "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23 ). The God who made you knows your deepest needs. So single or married, He will meet those needs in the ways He created you for. "Let it be the one the Lord has chosen"...because, as the plaque in my daughter's room said during her teenage years: "God reserves His very best for those who leave the choice to Him." This radio program references: Genesis 24:44 ; Psalm 23 |
