Download MP3 (right click to save) Some friends recommended that I stop at a unique museum near them. It features the life work of an amazing man, whose astonishing wood carvings became national treasurers. The guide said he explained how many of his masterpieces began this way, "I saw it in the wood." Well, everybody else just saw a piece of wood. He saw what that wood could become in his hands. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and that is exactly how the Master Craftsman of the universe looks at you and me. When Jesus looks at you, He doesn't see what everyone else sees when they look at you. He doesn't see what you see in yourself. He sees what He can make you if you'll put your life in His hands. That's why when He met a fisherman everyone knew as the erratic Simon, He said, "You shall be Peter" (John 1:42 ). That means rock. And ultimately, roller coaster Simon became the rock of the early disciples. Because of Jesus, you don't have to always be what you've always been. He transforms you through the power of what He did when He died on the cross for all our sin and our darkness. So many of us have lived the life-changing miracle the Bible describes in these words: "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is gone; the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17 ). When you open up your heart to Jesus, He moves into your life and He does what no religion could ever do. He remakes you from the inside out. As He went to that old rugged cross for you and me, He saw the answer to our sin, to our brokenness. I guess you might say, "He saw it in the wood." There's so much more in our website about how to get started in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Would you check it out today? It's ALifeThatMatters.org.
