In the 1986 World Series he was playing first base for the Red Sox. He had a good career, but all most people remember is the play he missed; the ball that went right through his legs. The play that many said cost the Red Sox the championship. Man! I’m Ron Hutchcraft and it stinks to have people only remember your mistakes, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, that may be the very thing we’re doing to some people we love without even knowing it—your kids, your friends, your spouse, your co-workers. It happens when we have a lot to say about what’s wrong with them, but not much about what’s right about them. The Bible tells us what these mouths of ours are for and not for. It says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up” (Ephesians 4:29 ). Now you make a major contribution to someone going for a life that matters when you tell them the strengths you see in them, the things you’re grateful for about them, the potential you see in them. Have you been doing that? We’ve had so many people tell us what’s wrong with us. We need someone who will tell us what’s right about us before the funeral when we can’t hear it. It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give someone, to help them see the masterpiece that God made when he made them. Listen, if you want to be one of those ‘make a difference people,’ our website is for you. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Ephesians 4:29 |
