Download MP3 (right click to save) It happened this time of year—Hurricane Katrina. Can’t you remember the images; one of the most unforgettable hurricanes in history. I remember those people who were on their rooftops, their last refuge from the flood that was all around them. They had those signs, “Without food, without water.” Actually, they were without hope until that chopper came up and that rescuer came from above with that cable. And I remember those pictures of those people just holding onto that guy for dear life as he lifted them out of that flood. I’m Ron Hutchcraft and you know because of what the Bible says about how to get to God and how to get to heaven, I couldn’t help but see myself in those rescue pictures. Now, throughout the Bible God tells us something we don’t want to hear. He says that we’re sinners, we’re hijackers of our life from Him, and because of that we’re trapped under sin’s death penalty with no way to swim out, no way to save ourselves no matter how religious we are; no hope except for the Rescuer from above. The most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16 , “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Now we’re rescued when we, “believe in Him.” What does that mean? It means holding onto Jesus like He is your only hope, like those people on the rooftops hanging onto their rescuer. The question is: When did you ever do that with Jesus? If you aren’t sure you have, you probably haven’t, which may be why He put you here today to give you this chance to grab your Rescuer while there’s time. We’d love to help you do that, if you just go to our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: John 3:16 |
