Download MP3 (right click to save) I had just started writing a book called, “Peaceful Living in a Stressful World.” Two weeks later, my precious wife was diagnosed with a condition that confined her to bed for seven months. That meant that on top of my heavy ministry responsibilities, I had the privilege of being Mr. Mom, too. So when you write about something, does it happen to you? I should have made my next book, “How to Handle Prosperity.” I looked at the months ahead with my partner sidelined and I wondered “How is this all going to work?” After a month of my new normal, my pastor’s wife asked me how I’d made it for more than a month without my honey’s help. I told her, “I didn’t do a month. I did 35 days.”
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and that is actually the only way I know to make it through life’s hard times. You do these 24-hour, bite-size chunks called days, one at a time. And we can carry that part of a big load because of a wonderful guarantee from our Heavenly Father, “Your strength will equal your days” (Deuteronomy 33:25 ). The good news, you will never have a day, no matter how heavy or horrible what happens, for which you will not have matching strength. You have His word on it. The bad news is, if you start worrying about how you’re going to handle the next day, the next week, the next month, the next year, you’re on your own. You’re running ahead of God’s supply lines, which deliver 24 hours of strength for 24 hours of need. And, as one Biblical prophet said, “Every new day He does not fail” (Zephaniah 3:5 ). If you’re at a point where you could use some more spiritual encouragement today, I hope you’ll visit our website. It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Deuteronomy 33:25 ; Zephaniah 3:5 |
