Download MP3 (right click to save) You may remember it as an '80s TV hit series or the movie version. They called it "Fame," and it's back as a new movie. It's a story of some kids, struggling for perfection at this New York City performing arts high school. And if you remember anything, you'll remember the driving title song. I'm not going to sing it, but it says, "Fame! I'm going to live forever. Baby, remember my name."
You know the young woman who stars in the new version said, "Although those lyrics are almost 30 years old, they still speak for her and many others. She said, "Living forever is something we all really crave." She's right. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and in just a few powerful words, the Bible reveals why we all have this living forever thing inside us. It says, "God has set eternity in the hearts of men" (Ecclesiastes 3:11 ). We're not just made for a little walk on earth. We're created for eternity, and we've got this hole in our heart that can only be satisfied by something that will last forever, which none of our earth accomplishments or relationships can possibly do. Everything earth has an expiration date. We're hungry for what will anchor us to something we'll never lose, and Jesus said He is it. He told the thirsty woman at a well whose life had been a series of relationships that left her empty, "Whoever drinks the water that I give him will never thirst. It will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" (John 4:14 ). There's that word eternal…untouchable, unloseable. He gave His life on a cross to give you a hope and a heaven you could never lose. You can be sure you are going to live forever. If you'd like that kind of life anchor, would you visit us at our website and find out how to begin a relationship with Him. It's ALifeThatMatters.org.
