Download MP3 (right click to save) In the final days of his Presidency, over 2,000 people are lined up hoping for one last act on George Bush’s watch. They’re lobbying for a last-minute Presidential pardon—a White House “get out of jail” card. He has the power to give official forgiveness and change the rest of their life. It’s no wonder they’re desperately seeking a pardon. I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and for 2,000 years, people like you and me have realized that our only hope was a pardon and we’ve gone to the only One who could give it to us–Jesus. In the words of Bible: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 ). Now, sin isn’t the breaking of some religious rules; it’s a fist in the face of the God who made us, saying in essence, “You run the universe, and I’ll run me, thank You.” The penalty? Well, the Bible again: “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23 ). That’s eternal death--eternal separation from a sinless God. Our only hope is a pardon we don’t deserve from the only One who can give it, the very God we’ve turned our back on. In the words of one Bible writer, “If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness” (Psalm 130:3 , 4). That pardon is free to you and me, but it cost God’s Son everything. Because in God’s words, “without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22 ). It took dying to pay our death penalty; the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross. Which leaves you with this life-or-death choice: will you reach out and receive the pardon bought with the blood of the Son of God? We’d love to help you begin a relationship with Him. Our website is there for that. Would you visit us there today? It’s ALifeThatMatters.org. Bible References: Romans 3:23 ; 6:23; Psalm 130:3-4 ; Hebrews 9:22 |
