Download MP3 (right click to save) If you own a home like we do, or more accurately you take care of the bank’s home, you can imagine the heartache of that word foreclosure. It’s happening at record rates–like 240,000 homes lost in just three months recently. Feels like they’re not just foreclosing on your house, but your dreams. Not long ago, Tracy Orr stood watching her foreclosed home get sold off to the highest bidder. One auction attendee was touched by Tracy’s predicament. She bid on the home even though she’d never seen it; she won the home for a bid of under $30,000, and then she let Tracy move right back in.
I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and that story was a bright light in this dark economic landscape. And it actually touched me on a deeper level. It brought back the unspeakably loving thing that Jesus Christ did for me and for so many I care about. That lady’s house was going for way below its value, like a lot of people do. Maybe you know the feeling of being treated like you’re not worth much, and then you start believing it and allowing yourself to go for cheap. That’s the great lie of our number one enemy–what Bible calls sin. You and I are made in God’s image for a love relationship with Him, but we’ve lived our way instead of His and we’ve ended up separated from the One who gives us our value. But Jesus wasn’t going to let that stand. He paid the full price for us. The Bible says, “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us” (1 John 3:16 ). That’s a love He’s waiting to give you if you’ll open your life to Him, because He paid the price of His life to give you back yours. We’d love to help you begin a relationship with Him.
