Download MP3 (right click to save) "Fame!" is making its third appearance in American culture. Well, that's as in Fame the new movie. Years ago, the story of ambitious, would-be stars and this New York performing arts high school was a movie and a TV series. And it's back again for this generation. The young lady who stars in the new version said recently she thinks the original theme song still speaks to people today. The chorus says, "Fame! I'm going to live forever. Baby, remember my name." She said, "Living forever is something we all really crave. You want to feel like you're contributing something during your time on earth - that you're worth it."
I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and you know, we are all wired by God to do something with our time here that will, in fact, last forever. Which means most of the achievements of our life won't make it, because they're earth stuff not eternity stuff. Our hearts are restless for something that will give some lasting meaning to what we do every day: going to school, going to work, going to the gym, living in our neighborhood. And the relationships that are part of our lives. Now, there's one thing you can do with the time you have left that will, in fact, live forever. Tell some people about your Jesus so they will be in heaven with you forever. God says, "Those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever" (Daniel 12:3 ). There's nothing else you can do that is immortal. So, make every day a missions trip right where you are. You are where you are so some people there can live forever, too. That's the kind of lasting meaning that your heart's been restless for. Our entire website is to help you to know how to be that kind of spiritual rescuer. Check it out, will you? It's ALifeThatMatters.org. This radio program references: Daniel 12:3 |
